October 31st 2019 is our deadline this year for guaranteed Christmas ready quilts.
Proper preparation of your quilt for longarming will help produce better results and save you money.
The maximum size of quilt we are able to accommodate is 120 inches wide.
All thread will be provided in a wide variety of colours in Signature cotton, Glide, Magnifico, Fantastico, So Fine, MicroQuilter.
Do not pin or baste quilt together.
Remove selvages from all fabric.
Top
-be sure the quilt components are free from all embellishments.
-clip and collect all lose threads. Errant threads on the back of the quilt top will show up behind light fabrics.
-check all seams to be sure none are loose.
-press quilt top.
-mark directional fabric top with a piece of paper with instructions secured with a safety pin.
-making sure borders are prepared and sewn on correctly will go a long way to ensuring your quilt is wave, ruffle and pucker free. If you need some pointers on borders check out this video or please feel free to ask me and I will be happy to help you.
Batting
-you can choose to bring your own choice of batting that is at least 6” wider and longer than the quilt top
-we also offer a selection of batting for your convenience.
Backing
-you can choose to bring your own backing fabric which needs to be a minimum of 8” wider and longer than the quilt top.
-pieced backings are welcome. Seams on pieced backings can sometimes shift and cannot be guaranteed for straightness.
-press backing and any seams should be pressed to the side.
